Today, the Thai Immigration Bureau announced the arrest of one of the United States’ most-wanted hackers at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Immigration officers detained Algerian national Hamza Bendelladj while he was transferring to a flight back to his hometown. Police discovered many electronic devices on his person that Bendelladj allegedly used to conduct cyber crimes.
Immigration Office Chief Maj Gen Phanu Kerdlapphol said that Bendelladj had been conducting online attacks since 2008, which caused him to enter the ranks of the US’s 10 most-wanted cyber criminals.
“He once hacked into a financial institution to steal information of private accounts,” stated Phanu. “The total cost of damage to the bank exceeded USD10 million”
According to FM91, Hamza will be extradited to the US for prosecution.
