Honda announced plans yesterday to launch a massive, USD644 million expansion of its production facilities within Thailand.
The Japanese automaker will build a new plant in the Kingdom, as well as expanding on its existing factories. Representatives from the company told the AFP that the new plant would be constructed in Prachinburi province.
Slated for a 2015 completion, the new plant will boost Honda’s Thailand-based car output to 420,000 units annually. At present, Honda’s Ayutthaya plant produces 280,000 vehicles annually, a number of which can be seen sharing road space in this very city.
