High schooler produces video to help border patrol police

In an attempt to raise public awareness about border patrol police, Weerawaroon Mavichak, a 17-year-old 11th grade student at Ruamrudee International School, produced a visual presentation to show the hardships these officers face.

“We are comfortably safe living in Bangkok,” the video’s subtitles read. “We have all the basic needs. Meanwhile there is a group of people who sacrifice their lives of protect our nation.”

In the clip, named “The Life of Thai Border Patrol Police: What You Might Not Know,” which she uploaded on her YouTube channel yesterday, Weerawaroon translated a Thai song written in honor of the police and combined together still and motion pictures of the officers to create a visual accompaniment to the lyrics.

Part of the lyrics read: “As many people are not concerned yet, these groups of people have sacrificed and gave up all their leisure times, pleasures, energy, comforts and even lives to serve the nation.”

Weerawaroon subsequently set up a Facebook account, named Ruamrudee Project for Border Patrol Police, as a means for collecting money from interested donors. The video Weerawaroon produced earned her massive support from Thai netizens who considered her action brave and humanitarian.
