Drivers on Thailand’s tollways will be given a break during Songkran, as no tolls will be collected on most expressways and intra-provincial motorways during the holiday.
The Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (EXAT) and the Highway Department made the announcement yesterday March 28, as reported by The Bangkok Post.
EXAT chairman Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree said that they had agreed to waive tolls on the Bang Na – Chon Buri expressway, the elevated expressway south of Suvarnabhumi airport, and the Bang Phli – Suksawat expressway for five days from 12.01 am on April 12 to midnight of April 16.
Wanchai Paklak, the Highways Department director-general, said the department will also not collect tolls on Highway No 7 (Chon Buri – Bang Na) and Highway No 9 (Bang Pa-in – Bang Phli outer ring road) for seven days from 4pm on April 10 to midnight of April 16.
