Former Bangkok policeman sentenced to death for drug charges

A former Bangkok officer was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court on Wednesday after being found guilty of possession of a falsified official document and 120,000 methamphetamine pills, which he intended to sell.

Pol Snr Sgt-MajPairojWongsrikaew, a former investigation officer at Sam Sen police station, was arrested by highway police on January 5, 2011 in Petchaburi province. Police found 120,000 speed pills in the back seat of his Honda Civic which was using a fake license plate.

The former officer claimed that he was paid THB200,000 to deliver a package to Nakhon Si Thammarat, and that he didn’t know what was in it.

The court found the former policeman guilty and was subsequently sentenced to death, the Bangkok Post reported.
