Family Mart has affirmed that it remains committed to Thailand, despite rumors that it was reconsidering its business in the kingdom.
According to reports, 713-branch strong Siam Family Mart Co., the local operator of the Japan-based Family Mart Co., has revealed plans to expand its network in Thailand by partnering with local companies to strengthen its position in the convenience store chain segment.
Siam Family Mart Co is the second largest convenience store chain in the country, behind CP All which operates 7-11 stores in Thailand.
Berli Jucker Plc, PTT Plc and Central Retail Corporation are the companies listed as possible business partners.
The Bangkok Post reported that among the three, Central is seen as the strongest tie up, with its six decades of presence in the convenience store market including some 200 Tops Supermarkets nationwide.
