Following an investigation into some 396 police stations that were abandoned halfway through construction, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has announced that it will charge the company contracted to construct the police stations, PCC Development and Construction Co., with fraud.
Representatives of the DSI said that conversations with PCC’s subcontractors revealed that many of those contracted to actually build the police stations had not received payment.
The DSI received 20 such complaints in total and will bring 20 charges of fraud against PCC.
The Bangkok Post reports that the DSI will also likely charge PCC with violation of the bidding price-collusion law, seeing as the company’s bid for the project was unrealistically low, and evinced a lack of willingness to complete the project.
