DSI investigating Bangkok City Hall over Skytrain and flood donation corruption

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) said yesterday that they will investigate the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) extension of the BTS Skytrain concession as well as charges of flood-donation money being funneled into the Democrat Party.

Department chief Tharit Pengdit said the committee will do everything in order to carry out the investigation process thoroughly and accurately, the Bangkok Post reported. However, should their probe conclude that there were no irregularities in BTS Skytrain concession extension and the Democrat Party’s use of donation money, she said the cases would be closed immediately.

The DSI Special Case Committee members also voted unanimously to accept the two controversial cases as well as six other cases involving possible criminal code violations. These are:

*Alleged sand-mining and encroachment in Khlong Thung Maphrao reserve forest in Phang Nga’s Thai Muang district

*Alleged encroachment on the Khek Watershed Development Project’s reserve forest in Phetchabun’s Khao Kho district

*Alleged corruption in the red-onion price-pledging project in 2011-2012 in Si Sa Ket

*Alleged fraud involving the sale of low-quality detection devices to state agencies

*Reported online gambling operation in the Northeast

*A multi-billion-baht inheritance dispute between Lop Buri businessman Somchai Pongsawang’s daughter Sobeda Pongsawang and Rassamee Khan.
