Thailand’s Office of Alcoholic Beverages has increased penalties for drunk driving: Those found to have over-indulged in alcohol before (or during) getting behind the wheel will now be subject to six months jail and/or a THB60,000 fine.
People parked on sidewalks or shoulders of public roads and sois will also be subject to the penalties, OAB director Samarn Footrakool said according to the Nation.
Those parked in front of their homes will still be able to drink with reckless abandon though.
“The only exceptions under this law are occupants of vehicles parked in front of their homes,” Samarn said.
Oh, and people can still drink on trains too, he said.
