Don Muang flooding

Flood waters are moving into Bangkok’s Don Mueang district from the overflowing Khlong Prem and submerging Phahonyothin and Vibhavadi-Rangsit Roads today Oct. 24, according to a tweet from MCOT.

Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand made a warning last night urging people in the Don Mueang, Laksi, Bang Khen, Chatujak, and Sai Mai districts of Bangkok to move their belongings to higher ground and evacuate the elderly and children. Governor Sukhumbhand said he had asked the foreign ministry to tell embassies and foreign diplomats in those areas to keep an eye on the situation, MCOT reported.

Flooding at the Thammasat University Rangsit campus has forced the closure of evacuation center there and 3,500 evacuees are being moved to Ratchamangkala Stadium today, the Bangkok Post reported. Vice Rector Kampol Ruchiwit said that roughly 200 busses will make the transfer and made a call for 300-400 volunteers to help.
