Snow, a stray dog in Nakhon Pathom, has reportedly moved to a new shelter in Bangkok after suffering a serious wound to his mouth as the result of firecracker explosion.
The dog’s injury occurred over New Year’s, when a group of kids forced the explosives onto him. The ensuing explosion blew off his lower jaw and destroyed all his lower teeth, forcing a veterinarian to perform an amputation in order to prevent him from falling victim to acute inflammation.
The cruelty Snow has faced has drawn massive attention from Thai internet commenters, bringing animal abuse once more to the forefront of the Thai national debate.
“I beg you,” a Pantip forum headline read, “please tell your kids not to put firecrackers in dogs’ mouth anymore”
Snow survived the operation but had to spend 10 days in the hospital waiting for his wound to heal. The accident has permanently changed his life, seeing as he is now incapable of chewing and dependent only on fluid nutrition.
Supinya Chanprasit, a Facebook member, posted a photo on her wall, stating that Snow now lives with Maneeporn Wongjinda, or “Auntie Toi,” in her house in the Sai Mai District.
“Auntie Toi needs a lot of canned fluid food, goat milk, blue pads and nano wound cleansing sprays,” wrote Supinya, suggesting that Snows needs are many.
Supinya said that those who want to help Snow can call Auntie Toi at 087-806-6621 to ask for more information about her bank account or address.
