Democrat Party canvasser murdered in Don Mueang

Democrat Party canvasser Chutidej Suwankij was shot and killed in Don Mueang in front of his family Saturday night Dec. 10, MCOT has reported.

Chutidej’s boss, failed Democrat election candidate Taenkhun Jit-issara said that he was one of five people targeted for assassination according to a warning by the victim. Chutidej used to work for Don Mueang Pheu Thai MP Karun Hosakul before joining Taenkhun.

“Mr Chutidej warned me that I was among five targets for assassination and now there were four people left,” Taenkhun said today, according to MCOT. “What I’m worried about most is the victim’s family as they saw the attackers and are now alone. Police should protect them.”

Pol Maj-Gen Supisarn Pakdinaruenart, chief of the Crime Suppression Department (CSD), said he thought the murder could be related to politics or a personal dispute.

Karun denied any involvement in the murder today, saying that he had remained in good relations with Chutidej since he switched and began working for Taenkhun.
