Crazy Taxi: Driver sentenced for trying to block Yingluck’s motorcade

A Bangkok taxi driver was sentenced to a suspended one-month jail term and fined THB5,000 for dangerously trying to block the motorcade of Thailand Prime Minster Yingluck Shinawatra.

Pongpicharn Thanathirapong, 49, pleaded guilty to reckless driving and blocking traffic at Dusit District Court on Friday. The incident took place on Thursday.

Public prosecutors said that Pongpicharn sped his taxi into opposite traffic in pursuit of the PM’s motorcade and cut off a vehicle in the front. His reckless driving damaged vehicles from Thai Post and Channel 7 reporters who were following the motorcade, the Nation reported.
