Two police officers are behind bars and one police inspector has been transferred to inactive duty following a video that surfaced on the internet over the weekend in which the three policemen were shown soliciting a bribe from a tailor.
The footage shows the officers arriving at the tailor’s shop, two in uniform, one in civilian clothing. They then chat for a moment with the tailor before leaving the scene. Later testimony revealed that during that conversation they were soliciting money from the tailor, whose name has been given only as “Porn.”
Present in the tailor’s shop during the incident was Banjong Chiwamongkol, a reporter from The Nation, who overheard the conversation and spread the news about the incident, as reporters tend to do.
The Bangkok Post reports that all the policemen hailed from Bangrak police station.
