Chuwit Kamolvisit is at it again.
The Rak Thailand Party leader called a press conference yesterday Feb. 12, where he claimed that he has information about a large prostitution ring in Bangkok and other provinces that is backed by politicians and other influential people.
He said he will reveal names of the people soon.
Chuwit showed photographs and video clips that he said showed a “new form of human trafficking”, The Bangkok Post reported.
The videos allegedly showed two brothels in Bangkok – one on New Petchaburi Road and one on Ram Intra Road – and a commercial building in Samut Prakan’s Samrong area that was acting as a secret brothel. He said the brothels on Petchaburi were run in private house and backed by businessmen and politicians, and the one on Ram Intra was disguised as a resort.
The Rak Thailand leader also said that as many as 100,000 underage girls work in Thailand’s sex industry and called for a crackdown from authorities.
“We are approaching Valentine’s Day. I want authorities to throw their weight behind tackling the sex trade. It’s a severe social problem.” he said.
Chuwit claimed that he was invited by the US Embassy in Bangkok to share information with officials about human trafficking today Feb. 13 at 10am.
