At least six major illegal gambling spots have reopened in Bangkok and are operating business as usual, Rak Thailand Party leader and MP Chuvit Kamolvisit said on Monday.
According to the Bangkok Post, Mr. Chuvit posted a facebook message announcing that the following illegal casinos have resumed operations:
1. King Petch casino in Petchaburi Soi 5
2. Ood Tai casino in Sukhumvit Soi 77 (On Nut)
3. Loy Faa casino in Pinklao area
4. Sor casino in Bang Kapi area (Lat Phrao Soi 112 and 119)
5. Wang Hin Intersection casino, opposite Tesco-Lotus supermarket’s Wang Hin branch
6. Nok Khao casino at the 11 kilometre marker on the local road, near Wat Samian Naree.
He added that illegal casinos near the areas of Or Tor Kor 3 Market in Nonthaburi province,Talad Thai market, as well as the Si Mum Muang central market in Pathum Thani have also re-opened.
Mr Chuvit’s announcement came at the heels of a lawsuit filed against him by Pol Maj Gen Pachara Boonyasit, chief of Metropolitan Police Division 1. The police officer reportedly sued him Mr. Chuvit due to defamation and for insulting an officer of the law.
The politician allegedly accused the police officer of receiving bribe money from the illegal gambling operators on July 2. The incident occurred while Pol Maj Gen Pachara was said to have been escorting Mr. Chuvit out of Petchburi Soi 5 where the MP and his companions were inspecting a suspected illegal gambling den.
Unfortunately, the residents in the area were not appreciative of Mr Chuvit’s efforts. They threw ice cubes at the MP and demanded that he leave.
