Chulalongkorn Deputy Dean receives 20 stiches after box cutter attack

Yesterday, a Deputy Dean of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed in the back with a box cutter.

Police said that the victim was Asst. Prof. Dr. Jirawat Chewaroungroaj, the 49-year-old Deputy Dean for planning and development. Jirawat was attacked in front of the Department of Mining and Petroleum building.

Doctors said that Jirawat received 20 stiches on his back and arms and remained in critical condition.

According to Dailynews, an initial police investigation revealed that the attack might have been precipitated by a personal conflict between the victim and the criminal, since no property was reported missing from Jirawat’s person.
