Yesterday, Sopon Pornchokchai, an independent candidate for Bangkok’s governorship, swam across the Chao Phraya River in an effort to promote his water pollution relief policy.
Sopon, in his swimsuit, told his Facebook fans that his performance of the 400-meter Freestyle was aimed at raising public awareness about the deterioration of Bangkok’s water supply. Fifty-four-year-old Sopon was accompanied by a group of rescuers during the swim and safely reached his destination.
The No.4 candidate said that he could really smell and taste the dirty water while swimming and insisted that the water pollution should be curbed.
The Bangkok’s governor election will be held on Mar. 3.
