A YouTube clip has surfaced in which Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung misstates the identifying number of Pheu Thai gubernatorial candidate Pongsapat Pongcharoen.
Chalerm was captured in a 20-second-long YouTube video clip saying: “Not only the Thonburi constituency of Bangkok, but Bangkok residents in general, I strongly believe, will elect Pongsapat, the ‘No.4’ candidate, as the next Bangkok governor.”
Pongsapat’s number is in fact “9.”
The number four actually belongs to Sopon Pornchokchai, the president of the Agency for Real Estate Affairs, who entered the race as an independent candidate.
Chalerm previously expressed strong confidence in Pongsapat’s potential victory by promising to refrain from talking to media for one week if Pongsapat lost the city election.
On Jan. 21, Pongsapat drew the number nine, an auspicious number in Thai society, as his identifier for the Mar. 3 race.
