Chalerm: ‘I won’t give interview for seven days if Pongsapat loses’

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung earlier today told reporters that he would refrain from talking to media for seven days if Pheu Thai candidate Pongsapat Pongcharoen loses in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Chalerm said that he had confidence in Pongsapat’s campaign and pointed to the candidate’s rallying schedule as justification for this optimism, saying that the No.9 candidate went to 7 or 8 places across Bangkok to meet people while MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, from the Democrat Party, traveled to only two or three.

“Just write down Pongsapat’s name as the new governor,” Chalerm challenged. “If Pongsapat loses, I will not give any interview for a week.”

According to Thairath, the deputy prime minister also linked Pongsapat’s potential to win to the fact that they both came from the same party, a factor that could be deemed important when Bangkok needed the government’s support to push big projects forward.
