Cambodian man arrested for pickpocketing British expat

Yesterday at 10pm, police arrested a Cambodian migrant worker for stealing a British woman’s wallet on the bus.

Bangplad police said that they received a tip from a bus driver at 9:30pm, informing them that one of the passengers on the bus had been pickpocketed. When the bus stopped at a police checkpoint at Bangplad Intersection, police found 23-year-old Nga Ban sitting in the right corner of the vehicle, surrounded by his fellow passengers, who were preventing Nga from fleeing.

Nga, who reportedly admitted to being a pickpocket, handed over the wallet in question to its owner – Rebecca Maria, an English teacher at Satri Wat Rakang School. The jobless Nga told police that he had stayed in the kingdom for four years and recently joined a pickpocket gang with his Cambodian friends in order to make ends meet.

According to Dailynews, Nga is charged with robbery and illegally entering the country.
