A woman who painted a canvas with her bare boobies as a contestant on “Thailand’s Got Talent” last weekend has elicited an angry reaction from the Ministry of Culture.
“There must be limits on artistic expression. I was shocked when I saw the clip,” Culture Minister Sukumol Khunploem said, according to the Bangkok Post. “The ministry will meet the organizers of ‘Thailand’s Got Talent’ to get an explanation.”
The show, which ran Sunday, was not live and they could have edited out the risque bit, she said, adding that “Talent” has high ratings and that people of all ages watch it.
In the clip – embedded below, skip to the 1:00 mark – the 23-year-old contestant takes off her shirt and bra, pours several colors of paint on her chest, and then smears her mammary glands on a canvas to create a crude sort of painting.
One of the three judges, actress Pornchita “Benz” Na Songkhla, expressed displeasure at the act, saying that it was inappropriate in Thailand’s culture and later walked off the stage. In an ironic twist, netizens later pointed out that the actress had done a magazine photo shoot where she covered her bare chest and torso in paint as well.
The two other male judges gave the act a thumbs up and passed her.
