Bound corpse found on Bangkok skyscraper roof

Police are trying to discover the identity of a man whose partly decomposed body was found on the roof of an abandoned skyscraper in Bangkok’s Bangna District this week.

The wrists and ankles of the man, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, had been bound with electrical cord, Nation Channel reported.

The body was found on Tuesday in the elevator control room of the unfinished Thai Fa building at kilometer 2 on the Bangna-Trat Highway.

Police believe the man had been dead for two or three days.

Lt Col Saranphong Phanpheng, an investigator at Bangna Police Station, said no identifying documents were found on the body and police had not received missing person reports that fitted the man’s description.

Doctors at Chulalongkorn Hospital are examining the body to determine the cause of death, he added.

Lt Col Naruedon Phumphuang said police were investigating the possibility that the man was a rag-and-bone collector from the area who was killed by a member of his group.

Lt Col Naruedon said there were three of four such groups in the Bangna and Bangphli areas and police would be questioning all of them.

“After investigating the criminal records, we didn’t find any history,” he said. “The fingerprints we got off the corpse aren’t clear yet.”

The officer said new fingerprints needed to be taken before a fresh check of police records.

Once the man’s identity is established, the investigation will be much easier, he said.
