BOI Fair 2012 starts with green theme

The Board of Investment (BOI) Fair 2012 kicked off today Jan. 5 with the theme “Going Green for the Future.”

The fair hopes to show that Thailand is still very much open for business despite the worst flooding in decades last year.

Technology companies are being specially showcased at the fair. There’s even a special hard drive industry zone, a nice boost for one of the hardest flood-hit sectors in Thailand.

Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) today officially opened the BOI Fair 2011, scheduled through Jan 20 at the Impact Muang Thong Thani exhibition centre, marking the end of the massive flood crisis, and the drive to full recovery.

The 300,000 square meter fair includes open-air activities and exhibits in 84 pavilions occupied by around leading Thai and multinational companies with the Royal Pavilion as the main highlight. Participating companies include

BOI Secretary-General Atchaka Sibunraung said she expects around 5 million people to visit the fair with 310,000 average daily visitors, MCOT reported.

Running today in conjunction with the fair was the 5th Save Our Planet eco-conference on global warming, with Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra speaking.
