The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is preparing to renovate the areas around the Victory Monument to make it more attractive and ensure safety of commuters and tourists.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday inspected the safety system and cleanliness around the Victory Monument, one of the capital’s major land transport hubs and tourist attractions, and found that many spots had deteriorated and sorely needed renovation.
The governor said places such as public toilets must be improved to meet the international standard, adding that facilities for the handicapped and the elderly must also be provided.
In addition, CCTVs and more lights must be installed in the area to ensure safety of commuters and tourists. The BMA has already signed an MOU with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority on the laying of electrical wires and cables underground to make it safer for the public, according to the Bangkok Governor.
