Three drug dealers were recently busted in the Bang Khae district of Bangkok with over THB200 million worth of methamphetamines, MCOT reported.
The men – Kritsada Kraihom, 24; Surapong Topanichsakul, 32 and Wannarat Pum-am, 30 – were in possession of 57.5kg of crystal meth and 370,050 “ya ba” tablets.
Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung and National Police Chief Prewpan Dhamapong announced the arrest in a joint news conference, saying that police had broken up a major syndicate.
Police allegedly had been surveilling Kritsada for awhile, acting on information from informants. They arrested Kritsada while he was delivering a drug shipment to a buyer at a Tesco Lotus on Sunday Dec. 11 and recovered 4kg of ice and 130,000 ya ba pills. Kritsada then confessed that he had more drugs at his condo, where police subsequently searched and found an additional 40kg of ice and 240,000 ya ba pills. He also tipped off police that more drugs were being held at a garment factory in Bang Bon district. Police searched it and found 50 ya ba pills and 13.5kg of ice.
As part of the operation, police also confiscated two cars, one motorcycle, five mobile phones, and eight suitcases.
Chalerm said at the press conference that the haul was the biggest drug bust ever in Thonburi and warned drug dealers around Thailand that there would be more to come. Starting in from the New Year, he said, police will begin a big crackdown on drug syndicates around Thailand.
