According to a report from the Issarachon Foundation, 49 people died on Bangkok’s streets last year and the city’s homeless population is showing a general, upward trend.
The Foundation reports that 2,846 people were living on the streets last year in Bangkok, as opposed to 2,451 that called the streets home two years previous.
In its coverage of the Foundation’s report, the Nation has pointed out that many of those who died on the streets had been suffering from HIV.
The area of Bangkok with the highest homeless population is Phra Nakhon, which plays host to 518 itinerants.
