Northern Rangsit Irrigation Office chief Chuchat Supawatthanangkul said today Oct. 20 that he believes Bangkok will be flooded.
Chuchat said that the amount of water flowing over the Rapeepat Canal floodwall was coming at 70 cubic meters per second and would certainly flood Bangkok, the Nation reported.
The same day, Former Irrigation Department head Pramote Mai-glad urged Bangkok citizens to fight against the unprecedented mass of water. Pramote said that “if all hands chip in Bangkok can pass the crisis with a few bruises,” according to the Bangkok Post.
Prime Minister Yingluck, meanwhile, told Bangkokians not to panic as water levels rise in canals throughout the city, as flood run-off is purposely being drained through them, according to another article in the Bangkok Post.
