It seems that in addition to streets, sidewalks and the entryways of certain 7-11s, Bangkok’s canines will soon have a park to call their very own as well.
The BMA has announced plans for the construction of dog park in the Bang Khen District. Or rather, they have announced plans for the construction of a human park that will have canine-friendly facilities built-in.
Once completed, the park will house an 800-meter jogging lane, 900-meter cycling track, “X-Games” zone and outdoor stages. This is in addition to a “dog park” portion of the grounds, on which visitors will find a veterinary building and 300-meter, doggy jogging (dogging?) track.
As exciting as this might be, we here at Coconuts Bangkok are going to have to discourage you from holding your breath.
Construction on the park is scheduled to begin this January, with October as the expected date of completion.
The BMA has estimated the project’s cost at THB50 million, a steep price, considering that, as usual, we’ll be lucky to get so much as a word of thanks from the dogs.
