Bangkok-based Builk last month won the Echelon Launchpad competition for tech startups in Asia.
The company, presenting its construction management web app that also serves as an industry social network, came out best in a group of ten startups vying for the top spot in Echelon’s 2012 competition.
Company co-founder Patai Padungtin said that 1,400 construction firms have registered with Builk since it’s launch in 2010, sgentrepreneurs tech blog reported.
There are 700 companies using the service with more than 4,400 users, he added.
The company has an Android app that gives users the ability to photograph construction sites,to document progress and allow project owners to follow developments.
The Builk team have worked in the construction industry for more than seven years doing a range of work for firms in Thailand and overseas, The Next Web reported.
The Builk software is free and monetizes through targeted advertising from the likes of construction service providers, suppliers, and universities offering construction-related courses.
As winners of the Echelon Launchpad competition, the team has received Amazon web service vouchers, passes to the Asia Pacific BlackBerry 10 Jam Conference and USD60,000 worth of Microsoft Azure cloud storage.
