Bangkok taxis can now be arrested for rejecting passengers

Bangkok taxi drivers who refuse passengers will now be subject to arrest.

Pol Colonel Weerawit Watjanapukka of the Traffic Police Command said yesterday that those who are refused a ride from a cab can call the 1197 hotline or log on to www.trafficpolice.go.th to report the offending taxi’s license plate number, the Nation reported.

How many will actually be tracked down and arrested is another question, but it’s still a step in the right direction towards doing something about Bangkok’s taxi troubles.
