The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) introduced a new initiative to four schools in the city this week. The “smart classroom” project gives students the chance to use computer tablets to aid them with their studies.
Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra paid a visit to Na Luang school in Thung Kru to see how Prathom 4 students were coping with Windows 8 operating system.
BMA has given 40 tablets for each pilot school to try different systems; Prachaniwet School using Android, Ritthiyawannalai School using Windows 7 and Wat Pathumwararam School using iPads according to The Nation.
Once the six month trial period is over King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi will assess which system is most appropriate for Bangkok students. The city will then purchase the computer system that proved to be the best, and Bangkok school children will have the tablets for their personal use.
