Bangkok residents trust US over Thai govt. when it comes to terror info

An Assumption University ABAC Poll found that more Bangkok residents trust US government information than Thai government information when it comes to terrorist attacks.

The poll taken of 1,147 respondents Saturday  Jan. 21 found that 55.9 percent trusted US information while only 44.1 percent said they trust Thai government information, The Bangkok Post reported. Roughly 73 percent of the people polled said that they were following news about potential terrorist attacks in Bangkok.News of the possibility of attacks broke with a terror warning from the US Embassy in Bangkok.

Most of the respondents, 57.2 percent, said that the Yingluck Shinawatra government was not sufficiently prepared for terrorism.

About 58 percent of respondents said that they believed a terrorist could strike in bangkok due to “lax law enforcement, lack of experience, and corruption among state officers.”

Lebanese terror suspect Hussein Atris was arrested in mid-January and led police to a stash of bomb-making material in Samut Sakhon. One alleged terror suspect is reportedly still loose.
