Bangkok police planning to install 20 new traffic cams

Bangkok police will be festooning the city with 20 additional traffic cameras in the coming weeks. Officers plan to place the cameras near police stations and at high-traffic intersections.

So far, plans have been announced to place the cameras at intersections near police stations in Tonglor, Patthumwan and Taling Chan.

Traffic Division deputy chief Worasak Nopsittiporn said, in an interview with the Bangkok Post, that the cameras would feed information to police via the internet.

Worasak also outlined several other traffic control initiatives, which included the creation of special police units tasked with cracking down on street racing and the diligent prosecution of illegal automobile modification shops.
