Police shot and killed an alleged hitman in a shootout early today near Bangkok’s Mo Chit bus terminal.
Sakrapop Klailueng, 44, wanted under three separate murder warrants issued this month, was killed after being shot twice in the chest as police tried to arrest him on Kamphang Phet road, the Bangkok Post reported.
Metropolitan police officers planned to arrest the suspect this morning, acting on a tipoff that he would be taking a bus from Mo Chit bus terminal near Chatuchak Park, police said.
As Sakrapop arrived in a taxi, police stopped the vehicle to make the arrest. The suspect, however, fled and opened fire on police with a handgun. Police returned fire, hitting Sakrapop twice in the chest, killing him.
Sakrapop was also believed to have been the gunman who wounded three other people at a housing estate in Chatuchak last month. Police believe the victims were involved in drugs and that Sakraprop was acting as a hired gun.
