Bangkok police deployed to alleviate traffic

The Bangkok Metropolitan Police announced that it will be sending a valiant team of 100 officers to help alleviate traffic problems as millions of people return to Bangkok today Jan. 4 from New Year’s holidays.

Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Police Major General Worasak Nopsitthiporn said he is confident that Bangkok will not face major gridlocks because the officers will be on standby to help, NNT reported.

No word was given on how the police plan on alleviating traffic.

Throngs of police were posted up on corners around central Bangkok yesterday, but they seemed to be doing the usual: pulling people over.

Traffic looks to get worse this year in Bangkok with tons of new cars on the road, the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning said earlier this week.
