Bangkok “panty sniffer” nabbed in snatch attempt

Bangkok Police have arrested a man caught breaking into a Chinatown building who was found with his car trunk full of women’s panties – more than 1,000 pairs.

The suspect – identified only as a 48-year-old Thai man – was arrested late Tuesday with an accomplice, AFP reported.

Police subsequently found more than 10,000 pairs of panties in the man’s home.

The sticky-fingered suspect confessed to collecting women’s underwear since the age of 18, police said. For the mathematically challenged, that’s 30 years of panty-hoarding.

Indicating a possible sniffing fetish, the man allegedly “smelled them all the time even while driving,” police Maj Gen Saroj Promcharoen said.

The panty packrat will be charged with stealing property, but not the underwear – for now – as there is no complainant, police said.
