TripAdvisor, in addition to being an indispensible resource for separating hotels into “cockroach” and “non-cockroach” varieties, is fond of making lists, so fond in fact that it has just released a clutch of rankings for the world’s top cities.
Though absent from the top-10 in the categories of “Best Public Transport,” “Best Taxi Services” and “Cleanest Streets,” Bangkok did score a coup in the category of “Best Shopping,” coming in second only to New York and beating out Tokyo (fifth), Hong Kong (sixth) and Kuala Lumpur (eighth).
Bangkok also ranked in TripAdvisor’s list of friendliest people, coming in a respectable seventh, right behind Dubrovnik.
It feels like we should be mad about that, but frankly, we’re just too nice.
