Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra promised earlier this week that the BMA would have 20,000 CCTV cameras operating in the Thai capital before the end of the year.
So far 10,000 cameras are supposedly working but Sukhumbhand said that city hall would install 10,000 more, especially in areas where deadly student brawls have occurred.
The governor ended up with some egg on his face last year after it was discovered that many security cameras in Bangkok were fake, nevertheless he is pushing forward with the latest initiative.
Sukhumbhand said that cameras will be monitored by the 88 police stations in Bangkok and that many cameras will be installed in areas with high concentrations of schools.
