Bangkok cops deliver baby in the back of a taxi on New Petchaburi Road

Talk about getting your hands dirty on the job.

Two traffic policemen in Bangkok successfully helped deliver a baby boy in the back of a taxi stuck in traffic on the notoriously clogged New Petchaburi Road yesterday afternoon Feb. 1.

Senior Sergeant Major Krissana Phetnoi and Senior Sergeant Major Rittirong Mukda were directing traffic on the street when they were alerted by radio that a pregnant woman was about to give birth in a taxi in Ratchathewi District, TANN reported.

The two police sped to the taxi and found 26-year-old Wanida Satrupai in labor. They quickly made the decision that they wouldn’t have time to get her to the hospital and delivered the baby in the back of the cab.

The baby and mother are both in good health now at the Police Hospital.
