The Australian Embassy in Bangkok is for sale and should fetch about AUS$100 million, the Herald Sun has reported.
The embassy on Sathorn Road was designed by Australian architects Ancher, Mortlock and Woolley and built in 1979. The Australian government considers the building a security risk though, the Herald Sun reported.
A new “chancery and premises” to be built will cost over AUS$200 million and will designed to handle blasts.
The Australian Embassy in Jakarta was bombed in 2004 killing 11 people and wounding 160.
The new embassy site is located next to the Japanese Embassy on Wireless Road.
Australia was one of the countries to issue a terror alert for Bangkok recently.
