Aung San Suu Kyi to visit Bangkok in first trip outside Burma in 24 years

Burma’s opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok next week for her first trip abroad in 24 years.

She will attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia along with Burmese president Thein Sein from May 30 – June 1, her spokesman said yesterday according to the Bangkok Post.

Suu Kyi and 42 members of the opposition National League for Democracy won seats in Burma’s parliament in historic elections on April 1.
