Assaulted Phuket resort GM leaves hospital

The Phuket luxury resort general manager who was brutally assaulted at a nightclub on the island has been released from the hospital and returned home to Sri Panwa Resort.

Vorasit “Pla-wan” Issara, the scion of Bangkok development magnate Songkran Issara, left the hospital yesterday Jan. 18, The Phuket Gazette reported.

Vorasit is recovering from extensive injuries sustained in the attack Jan. 4 at the Ratchada Ca Na La nightclub, which included stab wounds to the abdomen and slashes to the neck from a makeshift axe. He also had bruises all over his body.

He can now walk by himself but his leg must be held at an angle to allow wounded tendons to heal.

“I am now getting better,” he said, according to the Gazette. “I am sorry for what occurred, I did not mean for it to happen.”

Six men are currently being charged with the attack.

Vorasit’s mother Sriwara Issara is still worried though. “My lawyer is dealing with all matters in this case. I am still afraid that the attackers’ friends will be back to attack my son. [Phuket] Governor Tri [Augkaradacha] said he would take care of my son’s security to not let it happen again.

Holly actor Jeremy Renner was reportedly involved in the brawl and slightly injured.

Vorasit’s father Songkran is managing director of the well-known Charn Issara company which has built two Charn Issara Towers in Bangkok and numerous residential developments.
