The BMA is debating halting the construction of luxury condo building the Seed Atom on Soi Ari 4 as it may violate the Building Control Act.
According to the act, developers may not construct a building over 23 floors high on a soi less than 10-meters wide in order to avoid negative environmental impact, especially traffic jams. The Land Department recently measured Soi Ari 4 and confirmed that it is indeed less than 10-meters wide, the Nation reported.
So the developer changed plans from building a 37-floor and a 20-floor building with 555 units to three seven-floor buildings with 324 units.
Bangkok Councillor Wisut Samretwanich, who chairs the public works and city planning committee, said that local residents called for the construction to stop on the Seed Atom at a local meeting yesterday.
Currently only a temporary office has been built on the plot. Wisut said that the condo developer has been urged to offer other concessions like house repairs for locals and submitting and environmental impact assessment.
