American expat jumps to his death from Srijinda Mansion on Sukhumvit Soi 22

A 44-year-old American expat jumped to his death from his room on the 7th floor of Srijinda Mansion on Sukhumvit Soi 22 in an apparent suicide on May 24.

The former bar owner was nearly destitute and didn’t have enough money to buy food on the street. A street founder vendor said that the man had earlier tried to buy a THB25 thai omelette with rice (khao kai jiew) with only THB17 baht, and that she had felt pity for him and let him have the food, Daily News reported.

Earlier that day he had unsuccessfully tried to open a window on the 9th floor, footage from CCTV cameras showed.

Police sent his body to Chulalongkorn Hospital in a Ruamkatanyu Foundation ambulance for an autopsy.
