Aerial Awe: Weekend of aerobatics at Don Mueang

A team of highly skilled Thai and Indonesian Air Force pilots will be ripping and rolling through Bangkok skies tomorrow to commemorate 100 years of aviation in Thailand.

The air shows, which take place from today to July 2nd at Don Mueang Airport, will include aerial displays by two iconic fighter jets, the Gripen 39C and the legendary American F-16A. The Royal Thai Airforce will also put on an aerobatic display by the famed Blue Phoenix Fleet.

The Jupiter Aerobatic Team (JAT) from Indonesia will be conducting its first ever demonstration in foreign air space alongside their Thai counterparts. The show tomorrow is scheduled from 10am to 1pm and will see a variety of aerobatic displays ranging from Jupiter Rolls and Kite Barrels to X-Clover Leaps, depending on weather conditions, the Jakarta Post reported.

In addition to the aerobatics, various other activities such as aircraft displays will be running from Sunday to Tuesday with a centenary jubilee ceremony on Monday with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and other high-ranking officials in attendance.
