Absolute Scorcher: April temperatures in Bangkok may reach 43 degrees Celsius

We’re getting out our thesauruses to better describe the upcoming heat in April, when temperatures may rise to as high as 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) according to the Meteorological Department.

The average temperature in Bangkok will average between the merely sweltering 37 degrees to the absolutely torrid 39 degrees.

A heat mass is moving towards the Kingdom, the Meteorological Department said, which will combine with an unusually low number of clouds and less humidity to send thermometers soaring.

Somchai Bai-muang, director general of the Meteorological Department, said the temperature has been steadily rising from mid-February and that high heat will remain until mid-May. He said that from now until April 3 will be especially severe, the Nation reported.

Temperatures in some provinces have already surpassed 40 degrees at times, but Somchai said they probably won’t rise above 44.5 degrees.
