Yesterday at 3pm, police arrested 24 Chinese nationals (20 men and four women) for perpetrating a call center scam at a house on Soi Ramintra 6 in the Bang Khen district.
During a search of the premises, police discovered 100 home phones, 10 mobile phones and lists of Chinese names with credit card numbers. Police said that the scammers would fool Chinese-speaking residents in China, Hong Kong and Singapore into transferring money to their accounts.
The accused told police that they were lured to Thailand with tourist visas, believing that they would work as shop clerks. According to Dailynews, they are being charged with working in the Kingdom without permits and will be handed over to the Bang Khen police station for further interrogation.
