This morning, Crime Suppression police detained a 16-year-old girl who was suspected of making away with over THB5 million in a Furby sales scam.
Over 100 victims filed reports with police, stating that they were tricked into transferring money to Ploy, whose real name was not disclosed, but never received their robotic toys. Ploy reportedly sold Furby through her Instagram account, @FurbyFromUSA, at THB3,300-3,500 a piece, lower than the average rate of THB3,900.
According to Thairath, there were at least 300 customers who had fallen victim to Ploy’s scam.
