New twist in fugitive ex-monk case as brother changes statement

Suri Sukphol, the brother of defrocked monk Wirapol Sukphol, has retracted his statement claiming it was him and not the controversial ex-monk who had fathered a child.

Suri originally said that he was person photographed in bed with the woman and that he fathered her child not his brother, but after a meeting with the DSI yesterday, Suri said he did not know the woman and he lied to the public for the sake of his brother.

Wirapol, previously known as Luang Pu Nen Kham, is wanted by the Division of Special Investigation (DSI) for financial fraud, computer crimes and sexual assault of a minor. The woman who has accused him of sexual assault also claims that he impregnated her.

Suri will not face any legal action for his false statements, but he is still under investigation for his alleged connection to fraud and computer crimes with Wirapol, reported KhaoSod.
